Playa El Coromuel

So...we broke down and bought snorkeling equipment. We saw so many fish swimming by our feet the last time we went to the beach we really wanted a mask. There is a sporting goods / dive shop on the Malecòn near us that we kept walking by. We caved and picked up masks, snorkels, and water shoes. Everyday is 97ºF by noon and the sun heats the sea up to 80-85ºF every day, so going to the beach is supremely refreshing.
We were itching to go use them, so we opted for a closer beach this time. Playa El Coromuel is only a few minutes north of town. It was fairly busy, but never felt crowded. There were a few umbrellas that you can rent, or not. We got there kind of late in the day, maybe around 4pm, so we decided to save our money this time.
The water here gets keep pretty quickly, with most folks staying within 20ft of the shore. We swam out to some old pilings with our new gear and got to see all the fish using them as cover. It was quite neat: I've never used a mask in the ocean before!
Unfortunately, the visibility underwater at this beach wasn't great. There is more swell making its way into the little bay, which kicks up more sediment, so you can't see very far. No worries though: we brought some snacks and beverages, and alternated between swimming and reading the rest of the afternoon. Sunset was quite good today.
